New Subaru Hybrid Vehicle For Cincinnati Car Drivers

The recent announcement that Subaru will be offering a hybrid vehicle has been the talk of the auto industry for months and the time to be able to buy one is rapidly approaching. The Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, new in 2014, is the first green vehicle to come from Subaru and, as expected, the gas-electric crossover has better fuel economy than the existing Crosstek, a benefit that will appeal to environmentally aware consumers. The car is sleek and stylish, losing none of its appeal by adopting hybrid technology.

A first from Subaru

Subaru's first hybrid vehicle debuted at the 2013 New York Auto Show in March and marks an amazing and exciting step for Subaru. Hybrid vehicles, those that use both electricity and gas to power the vehicle, consistently get better gas mileage than their standard counterparts. The Crosstrek features stop-start technology that shuts down the engine when idling at stop lights to save fuel, but retains all wheel drive capabilities and high ground clearance.

All the power and precision you expect

The 2-liter Boxer engine has 148 horsepower and operates in conjunction with a 13.4 hp electric motor that sits just behind the transmission. The battery, which is 13.5 kilowatt and nickel-metal-hydride, is under the floor in the rear and the motor and battery powered system adds about 300 pounds to the vehicle. The electric motor is used to start the car under light acceleration and run the vehicle in low speed. At higher speeds the gas engine takes over.

Subaru fans will be pleased to note that the hybrid Crosstrek has just as much torque as the standard model and adjusted the steering ratio to maintain a quick response in the heavier vehicle.

The same, but different

The exterior of the Crosstrek has different wheels and taillights in addition to the hybrid symbol on the edges of the doors and tailgate. The passenger cabin is a bit smaller and some space has been taken from the trunk to accommodate the battery. The dash also contains the instrument cluster for the hybrid component which helps the driver keep track of fuel economy and system performance.

Come and see for yourself

We are so excited to be among the first dealerships scheduled to receive the new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid and will be pleased to showcase the vehicle in November. If you are in the market for a new car, a hybrid is an excellent choice and Subaru enthusiasts are thrilled to finally have the option to get a great hybrid from a great company. This is a great step for Subaru, adding better fuel economy to an already amazing car, and we can't wait to see what the next Subaru hybrid will be.
