Subaru Loves Pets- Animal Friends Humane Society - Sarah L

“PetMobile at Busam Subaru!”—proudly proclaimed on Animal Friend’s website and Facebook page! Busam Subaru had been a compassionate and communicative partner throughout the entire month of October for the Subaru Loves Pets campaign, but on October 29th Animal Friends would be able to go out and host an adoption event onsite. The Friday finally came! Dogs, cats, and volunteer alike were ready for a great day with lots of adoptions! It only appeared that the weather had missed the memo and as they loaded animals onto the PetMobile for the day grey clouds started to gather. But a dreary day did not stand a chance against Busam Subaru’s warm welcome! The staff were wonderful and engaging, coming out to visit and give love and attention to all of the adoptable dogs and cats! Busam Subaru had gone above and beyond to make our underdogs and overlooked cats feel special by collecting food, treats, and toys for them! Braving the rain had been more than worth it when at the end of the day 4 cats had found their furever homes! One of these little kittens had been Lefty! Lefty came into the shelter as a stray. No mother, no siblings, just a small orphaned kitten with a large open wound on his left wrist, leaving his paw knuckled over. Our vet evaluated the leg and determined that amputation was needed. Lefty underwent his surgery and then was placed in a foster home with one of our vet techs so he could properly heal and learn what it was like to live in a home and get love from people! When Lefty came back to the shelter he was a little intimidated. There were so many other cats, some with striking colors, and he was afraid he would blend in the background with his simple black coat. And all the other kittens he looked over at all had four paws; would someone still want him with just his three legs? At the Busam Subaru event all of Lefty’s fears were put to ease, and he found an adopter who knew that this small, black, three-legged kitten was the purrfect fit for his family! Animal Friends is so happy for Lefty and so thankful to their partner Busam Subaru for helping to bring attention to those often overlooked animals!

"Sharing the Love" with the Literacy Network!! - JILL S

Thanks to Busam Subaru for “Sharing the Love” with the Literacy Network! The Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati has been the grateful beneficiary of Busam Subaru’s “Share the Love” event for the last four years. This event provides Busam Subaru car buyers with a unique platform to support Literacy Network efforts, raise awareness, donate books and provide much needed financial support for our literacy and outreach programs. Since 2017, Busam Subaru customers have raised an astounding $102,000 Literacy Network programs! These funds have been instrumental in supporting the growth of our Little Free Library program and the recent opening of the Queen City Book Bank. The Literacy Network has placed over 135 Little Free Libraries throughout the Greater Cincinnati community in the past two years and distributed over 100,000 books! These Little Free Libraries not only improve access to reading materials, but also serve as an important connection between neighbors. These funds also support the Literacy Network’s tutoring programs for both children and adults that are free of charge to the participants. We are immensely grateful for this platform to raise funds and share our mission with Subaru customers. John Busam has been on the Literacy Network Board of Directors and a member of our finance committee since 2011. “Busam Subaru truly is “driven” to help our community and has been a long-time advocate for our mission. This incredible financial support has enabled the Literacy Network to serve more students and families. Because of Subaru’s generosity, more children have learned to love books and learning, helping to create bright educational futures,” stated Michelle Otten Guenther, President of the Literacy Network. The power of education and learning to read can shift the narrative of someone’s entire life story. Busam Subaru’s commitment to our community demonstrates the powerful impact that occurs when people work together. Thank you, Busam Subaru, for working with the Literacy Network on this mission and being an exemplary community partner! Subaru Sends Hope to Butler County's Vulnerable - Jeff G

Serve City recently received a generous donation of thermal blankets, socks, towels, wash cloths, and cutlery from Busam Subaru as part of their Love Promise campaign. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we heavily rely on contributions such as these to provide the day-to-day support for Butler County's most vulnerable population. Providing support to the homeless through our Overnight Emergency Shelter, Residential Shelter, and Transitional Living Apartments, we are able to offer daily housing to 140+ individuals experiencing homelessness while paving a pathway to housing stability. This most recent donation will allow Serve City to provide some warmth to those who will be enduring the upcoming winter weather. On behalf of our staff and those we serve, THANK YOU! - Jeff Gambrell, Volunteer Services & Community Engagement Manager

Fairfield Busam Subaru Fundraising - Megan N

Busam Subaru reached out to Animal Friends Humane Society last year to have us bring our mobile adoption unit (Petmobile) out to their store. We set up in their parking lot and met a lot of happy visitors. Though we did not do any adoptions on site, this was a great way to show off our adoptable animals to the community. They set us up right in front of the store so everyone driving by was able to see our Petmobile and know that we were there with animals. At this event, we received all the donations that were collected for us all month long. We also got stuffed Subarus for all of our dogs at the event. One loved hers so much, she took it home with her to her adopted home! This year Fairfield Busam Subaru reached out again to see if we would be able to come out and set up. Because of the timing and dealing with COVID restrictions, we were unable to go out and set up at the store. Even though we could not come out, Braden Miracle (Online Operations Manager) stated we would still be selected as the recipients of the donated money from their Love Promise. This money will go to great use as we are a non-profit open admission animal shelter serving our entire county! I have attached 3 photos of some of the dogs at the Subaru event. Billy was deaf, Hazel had a food allergy, and Millie was a senior! All have happily found loving homes!

Busam Subaru Loves to Care - 2019 - Christina B

The Tri-State Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was proud to partner with Busam Subaru in support of Mercy Fairfield Hospital. Brandon Mircale and C. Jeff Weiss from Busam Subaru were incredibly gracious to “opt in” on Subaru of America’s national partnership with LLS to provide blankets for cancer patients, and for the third year in a row selected Marcy Fairfield. It was an honor for us to work them in providing these beautiful blankets, craft kits, and messages of HOPE to patients and their families. The staff and volunteers of LLS are truly grateful for Busam Subaru’s generosity and support! The Mercy Fairfield staff on hand to accept these donations were Shane Knisley, Melissa Peters, Keshia Hill, Natalie Goforth, Julie Rose, Jennifer Angel, and Brenda Singleton. Mary Christ who is currently a patient in Mercy’s cancer unit was very touched to receive these items and commented on the exceptional care she is receiving there. All the best to Busam Subaru, Mercy Fairfield, and all of the patients, we hope this conveyed a sense of comfort to them at this difficult time.

Busam Subaru continues to lead the way as an exemplary community partner. Their genuine desire to help our neighbors and amplify goodness is a hallmark of their corporate culture. Busam Subaru's “Share the Love” event provided their customers with a unique platform to support Literacy Network efforts, raise awareness and provide much needed financial support for our programs. During this year’s “Share the Love” campaign, the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati received an astounding total of $32,298 in donations, which allows us to grow and expand our reach within the Greater Cincinnati Community and raise awareness about our programs! This year, we placed 50 new Little Free Libraries to improve access to reading materials. Nearly 2,000 new tutors were trained and placed with adults and children to give them one-on-one reading assistance outside of the classroom. We held 12 classes to help students struggling with more severe reading deficiencies and 200 character coaches visited classrooms to provide mentorship for elementary students. Our adult program held 5 classes for adults reading at or below a 4th-grade level, with over 50 adults meeting one-on-one with tutors outside of class. Finally, the Literacy Network hosts the city’s Literacy Hotline, which has been busier than ever, fielding well over 2,500 calls. Busam Subaru’s “Share the Love” campaign enabled us to share our mission like never before; helping our programs grow and reach more people in need. The team at Busam Subaru is also wonderful to work with. We are incredibly grateful for this tremendous donation and the opportunity to share what we do with Subaru customers. The power of education and learning to read can shift the narrative of someone’s entire life story.
